The flags were being sold, and a further order has been placed, to enable the residents to contribute in a small way to the King George V memorial fund. They are asked for their whole-hearted support aud cooperation with the Gisborne ThirtyThousand Club in their ell’orts under the direction of the Mayor, Mr. I). \V. Coleman, M.l’.

The drivers of all cars and other vehicles tire invited to assist by displaying their red, white, and blue colours prominently on Thursday and if that is carried out the officials of the club are sure that their appeal will be it success.

The decoration of the riverbank on the K.S.A. side of the Kaiti bridge was started this morning under tlie sueprvi.sion of Mr. G. Brooke Carter and the possessors of the flags will bo invited to plant their flags on the prepared plot, which will be worked in a guiding design. The ground will be patrolled during the day by members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, If unable to make a personal visit, to tin; ceremony, country supporters of the fund are asked to dispatch their flags to the secretary of the Thirty-Thousand Club, Mr. W. Oakden, who will supervise the planting of any flags received in this manner.

Last evening a supply' of flags was sent into the country districts and their sale has been left in the capable hands of postmasters and ladies in the various districts. A further supply of flags hits been ordered from Wellington as it is understood that there were many residents slill without the emblems of loyalty. The Hags will be on sale all day on Thursday and those who have not, yet made their small donation or who have lost their flags xv i 11 be able to participate in the ceremony if they wish.
