Passengers by this mornings plane lo Napier had a remarkable view of the North Island. The atmosphere was exceptionally clear and from a height of 9000 ft, the passengers could see clearly Ml. Egmonl. 175 Guiles away. To the north. While Island, with clouds ol steam rising from it, was plainly visible, and away to the north-west, Ml. Piroimia, near Te Awamutu. could he picked out. It is considered that 180 miles is about tho limit of tho human eye under good atmospheric conditions and this morning the conditions were apparently at their host lo enable so many distant landmark's to Im sighted. In addition to the mountains. Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo. glistening in the morning sun, presented a fine spectacle.
