UNION FUNDS STOLEN
SECRETARY’S ADMISSION
PROBATION FOR A YEAR
(per Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, this day. The theft of.' £l2, the property of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, was admitted in the Magistrate’s Court this morning by Albert Thomas Graham, aged 40 years, who was employed by the Public. Works Department at Stevenson’s Flat during February and March. The accused was the local secretary of tho union. lie collected money as annual subscriptions from the men in camp, but failed to account for the money and left for Christchurch. He returned to Greymoutli and gave himself up to the police, us the matter was worrying him. He stilt oil that lie had spent most of the money on liquor.
The magistrate, Air. R. Ferner, admitted the accused to probation for 12 months conditionally on the repayment of the money.
