WELLINGTON WEDDING
SILK—PEARCE The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Hill street, Wellington, made a beautiful setting for the wedding on Friday afternoon of Alison May, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Pearce, Hobson street, Wellington, and Bryan Murtell, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Silk, of Wanganui, the well-known amateur golf champion. The marriage, ceremony was performed by Monsignor Connolly. ; The bride made a charming picture as she entered the church with her father in her sheath-fitting gown of silver inailette. The bodice was drawn into a how across the front, forming soft folds on the shoulder and- continuing across the. hack of the neck. The skirt was bias-cut and moulded to the hips, front where it swept into a panelled train a the hack, A veil of white tulle cascaded over the silver of her gown and was hold in place by a spray of orange blossom on her head. She carried sheaf of arum lilies. » The six bridesmaids were Miss Joyce Nathan, Miss Moan Williams, Mastcrton. ~!s s Ids Hnnlon- Miss Judy Knight, Dannevirke, Miss Mona Blair, Gisborne. Mlfl Miss Betty Bevien, England, their frocks were of silver ottoman lame, cut oil linos similar to tb« brides gown hut with smaller trains. The draped bodices were finished with tiny bows, and on their heads they wore top knots of ied anemones. Bouquets of red anemones and gladioli were carried. Mr. Colin Armstrong was the best man. and Messrs. Andrew Todd, Alister Williams, Masterton. Douglas Young, Wanganui, Miles Watson and Trevor Silk, Wanganui, brother of the bridegroom, were groomsmen. A reception for the large number of guests, among whom were friends from all over the Dominion, was held afterwards at the Grand Hotel.
