Sir Arehdalo F'arkhill, Australian Minister of Defence, presided at the first meeting of the Civil Air Communications committee, the proceedings of which were largely confined to reviewing the progress of the Imperial air routes. One of the main problems of the committee is the expansion of foreign air lines, especially to South America and the Pacific.
It is hoped that the conclusions of the conference will contribute to the Empire lines taking an equally prominent place. i " INCREASE IN CAPITAL POUR MILLION SHARKS (British Oflicinl Wireless.) RUGBY, May 28. Imperial Airways, Limited, propose to increase the capital of the company to £5,000,000 by the creation of 4.CC0.0C0 new shares of 111 each. The new shares, subject to the approval of the Secretary for Air. Viscount Swinton, are to be issued by the directors, in such amount or amounts, and at such time of times, and upon such terms as the directors shall think expedient.
