A large and enthusiastic crowd witnessed the game of football played at Pulm on Saturday afternoon between the I'uha and To Karaka teams, the linal score being (j—nil in favour of Te Karaka, their points being acquired by means of an unconverted try and a penalty goal. I'uha were very unforfunale not lining able to Held their team in full strength, the back division being weakened considerably without the services of H. Kuril and .1. Kuril, two outstanding players. Te Karaka were superior from the commencement of play and the I'uha team did very well to keep a much biggest score being added up against them.
Te Karaka pressed hard from the first whistle and although I'uha held them back for some time, I. Walker succeeded in scoring a try after a. splendid dribbling rush by A. Manuel This try was not converted. Shortly after, while still pressing hard, 1. Walker kicked a penalty goal from an easy position. - ■'..-..%.. ' ■ . The score, remained unaltered- to. the conclusion of the game, Several times each side looked like .scoring, but good defensive work kept the scores down. The back division of the Te Karaka team showed very good combination, and prominent players in the side were A. Manuel, I*. Crawford, I. Walker and I{. Kuril.
In the I'uha team, E. Newton, R. Ryland, and W. Williams played good games.
The game was controlled by Mr. C Mills.
In the other match played at Whatatutu, Wliatalutu defeated Waipaoa by IS points to eight. The game was refereed bv Mr. E, Clark.
