WAIROA BOROUGH COUNCIL
' MONTHLY MEETING LAST NIGHT'S MEETING (Spoclal to tlio Herald.) WAIROA, this day. The Wairoa Borough Council met last night, those present being the Mayor, Mr. H. L. Uarker, and Crs. A. W. Archibald, W. J. Clark, -I. P.. Cook, L. E. Galbraith, W. 11. Flint, W. 11. Brady, F. Berry, and Al. .). Cemmcll. The annual meeting of the Domain Hoard was held. i\o receipts were shown in the balance sheet ; neither was there anv revenue.
The Mayor reportetl thai no objections had been lodged in writing against the procuring of a loan of ,C£ooo without a poll til ratepayers. lie also reported thai Mr. P. W. Poniare. the health inspector, was taking a great interest in the borough and had given good advice regarding the sewerage scheme, lie had also taken counsel with Messrs. Swifts (X.Z.). Limited, so that the smell which annoyed some people as coming from the meat digester in future woidd lie passed through water, and so to the river.
The Mayor reported also that there had been some misunderstanding with the trustees of the late Mrs. .1. Hunter P.i'own. and as to what, was meant by the "point of supple" for water offered free at North Clvde. instead of making fenced-ofl lanes to the river for stock watering. He had seen Mr. Clendinning mi the subject, and the matter would be satisfactorily arranged.
In respect to the proposal to plant the metal pit reserve with pinus iusignis to keep clown gorse. authority was given to spend up to CIOO on the work.
