70 SEPARATE BLOOMS
ON ONE CHRYSANTHEMUM
Ail enterprising "Wanganui chrysanthemum, grower lias succeeded in un experiment which is probably unique among his fellow enthusiasts in Now Zealand. Ho has grafted six varieties of chrysanthemums on one parent stem, and has them all in bloom. Mr, "\V. «T. Benson, Bell street, has studied the problem of grafting chrysanthemums for some years, and ho experimented last December on a sturdy "William Brunton stem. The tubbed plant now stands nearly six feet high, and bears more than 70 separate blooms. . . The blooms of the parent plant are red in colour. One of the grafted varieties, Duiiy Sketch, is pink and mauve, and another, Alice Benson, is white. There are two yellow varieties, F. S. Vullis and Lancashire, and two bronzo blooms, Stephen Brown and Brouzo Cascade.
