TOLAGA BAY REQUEST
USE OP OLD BRIDGE SITE
(Herald Special Reporter) TOLAGA BAY, this day. An investigation will be made by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, to se# whether it will be possible to set aside a section of the old bridge site in Tolaga Bay, when it is dismantled, for use by the Women s Institute as a reserve and site for a club house.
Mr. Semple told Mrs. E. Kelly, who waited on him on behalf of the institute, that he would recommend the Main Highways Board to give the institute the section required; if it- could | serve no more useful service. Mrs. E. Kelly, on behalf of the institute, suggested' that a piece of ground that would be left vacant by the dismantling of the old bridge should be left for .'the institute, which would plant trees and later when funds permitted erect a clubhouse. The property was practically all river bank, and the institute wished to make a reserve. The Minister said the request was a reasonable one, and was, quite conversant with the value of the institute. Ho promised to look at the section, and if he was satisfied that there was no danger of obstruction he would suggest to the Main Highways Board that the institute should be given use of the land, if it could be used for no more useful purpose. Mr. McNeil said that there were other Crown sections that might be used, if the riverbank area did not suit. The Minister: We will try and get a home for you, Mrs. Kelly.
