The essential part played by meteorological observations and analyses in any successful air service was outlined by Dr. M. A. F. Barnett, of the Meteorological Office at Wellington, in an address to the Wellington Philosophical Society. Dr. Barnett pointed out that in presentday flying) adverse weather conditions provided the principal hazard, .which could he reduced to negligible proportions by the provision of an adequate meteorological service and capable and experienced pilots.
