HANDS OFF BALKANS
WARNING FROM TURKEY “RAYS OF BURNING SUN” (Eloc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) ATHENS, May 25. The President of Turkey, Kemal Ataturk, telephoned a message to guests assembled at a banquet, at, Athens in honour of the visiting Turkish Prime Minister, General Ismei Tnontt, warning tho Powers to keep their hands off the Balkan. Pact 'States.
“The frontiers of tho allied. Balkan States form a single frontier,” he declared. “Those having aims on it will expose themselves to tho rays of the burning sun. They should take care.”
The Balkan Pact States are Turkey. Greece, Rumania, find Jugoslavia. Kemal Ataturk’s warning, it is pointed out, reflects their determination not to be. made the object of a Berlin-Rome policy.
