UNCOMPLETED GAP

ENGINEER'S REPORT

Reporting in connection with the proposed formation and metalling of, an uncompleted' gap on Stafford's road, I'elnri,' between the junction with the Hahgaroa-Tahpra road and, the start.of the .present metalling, a distance of approximately 22 chains, the Cook County engineer, Mr. K. F. . Jones, advised yesterday's meeting of the council that the estimated cost was in the vicinity of £270. The route of that road would be "through the property owned by Mrs. Jeffries. The present legal road was stated,to be subject to flooding, and the cost of formation and metalling that route" would be £3ooi There was another, route in the localit"whicli had been advocated by the Public Works Department, and that wag, certainly the- most desirable, being above flood" level and well away" from Mrs. Jeffries* wool-shed.
