SOCCER TEAM CHEERED
VISITORS FROM ENGLAND AUCKLAND'S RECEPTION TOWN HALL ASSEMBLY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Members of the English soccer team visited Government House this morning and were welcomed by the OovernorQeneral, Viscount Galway, who wished them an enjoyable journey through New Zealand ami Chatted informally with the managers and the various members ol the team.
All enthusiastic welcome was tendered the team in the Town Hall this afternoon, when representatives of the Government, local bodies, and football organisations joined the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davies in greeting the visitors. There was a. large attendance. Mr. \V. .1. Lyon, MVP., speaking on behalf of the Government, said the Government, was very interested in developing sports and facilities, and in his opinion Association Pool ball should figure more prominently in the life ol the. country.
Speaking for the team, Mr. C. Wrexford Brown, a joint manager, said that whatever the outcome of the tour, the visitors were confident of having a wonderful time in the Dominion. There was no other game that presented such common interest Ihe world over as did The visitors were, warmly cheered.
