AN UNDEFENDED PETITION DECREE AP.SOEUTE MADF The hearing of undefended divorce petitions and oilier divorce matters occupied the fiUonlion of the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, in the Supremo Court in Gisborne to-day. The petition of Lily Stratton for a decree absolute against Arthur Norman Stratton was moved by Mr. J. dp W. Blathwayt, instructed, by Air. S. V. Beaufov. The respondent "was represented'by Mr. J. S. Wauchop, who agreed to an order for permanent maintenance for petitioner in the sum of £2 week, the right being reserved to either party to move for a variation in the order. Costs were awarded to petitioner in the terms of an agreement between the parties, and custody ol: the child of the marriage was awarded to the petitioner. Restitution of Conjugal Rights

A petition for restitution of conjugal rights was made by Brian Maxt.ed Terry (Mr. <i. Bradley Smith), the respondent'being Thelina Delancey Terry (Mr. .1. S. Wuuchop). Petitioner statod that he was married hi 1928 at Cisbnrne, and lived in Gisborne sub? seqnontly, one child being born of the marriage. On November .15, 1935, his wife left his house, and she had not returned. In March, 1937, witness wrote asking his wife to return to him, her reply being a refusal to return. Petitioner stated that he was anxious to have the respondent return to him. His honour made the order requested, and fixed a term of 21 days for respondent's compliance with the order..

Decree Nisi Granted The petition of Yalborga Claire Mary Alloy (Mr. J. G. Nolan) for divorce from Hubert Augustus Alley (Mr. E. T. Brosnahan) was made on the grounds of a separation agreement made in 3034, which had been continuously in effect. Petitioner said she married respondent in May, 1926, and had two children of which she had retained custody, one being at a convent and the other living with an uncle, the brother of tho respondent. His Honour grunted a decree nisi, to be moved absolute at, the expiry of three months. A further petition was that of Winifred Alice. May Knight (Mr. K. A. Woodward), against Christopher Charles Knight, the case being undefended. Tho petitioner stated that she was married in Hamilton in 1926, and two years later had been granted a separation order in the Magistrate's Court in Oisborne in 1928. She had not, seen her husband in the meantime, petitioner stated.

His Honour, after hearing corroborative evidence as to tho currency of the order and its observance, granted a decree nisi, to be moved absolute after the expiry of the usual period.
