MARKET IMPROVES AUSTRALIAN EXCHANGES SYDNEY. May 3. The outstanding feature- in a quint market ou the Stock Exchange to-day was the sharp recovery of Broken Hill Proprietary new shares which rose 3s to 77s 6d. Barriers were a shade firmer. Industrials were firm but slow. On the Melbourne Stock Exchange the market generally was better. Broken Hill Proprietary.' Barriers, and Ml. Lyell were firmer in expectation of a gradual improvement here anil overseas. SWAN BREWERY COMPANY

DIVIDEND AND BONUS The directors of Swan Brewery Company, Limited, Molhonprne, have declared a. dividend of 6d a. share on the jio,W issued ordinary shares of 5s each arid in view of the projected now issue of capital a special bonus of 3d a share, payment will be made on June 2. Recently the company increased its capital to £565,400 by the creation of 350,000 ordinary shares at 5s each and a. now share issue" was approved in the proportion of one new 5s snare at a- premium of 2s for each share held.

BROKEN HILL SOUTH DIVIDEND RATE RAISED A dividend of Is 3d a share of 5s has been declared by tho directors of Broken Hill South, Limited, Melbourne. Tho dividend is payable on June 18 and is tho fourth distribution for the financial year which ends ou .June 30.
