(Herald Correspondent.) The Motu School Committee met ou Friday night, Mr. F. Donaldson presiding over a full attendance of menu tiers. Notification was received that the school was to remain (dosed until after the term holidays'. Several improvements to the'grounds, such as concrete path.*, having lieon approved by the Hawke's Bay Education Board, are to be commenced, immediately. The master, Mr. Bayliss, has been carrying out his duties per medium of the telephone, as several of the children living some distance from the township do not receive the published homework until late in the week.

A surprise party visited Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wright on Saturday and spent, a very happy evening playing mnh Jong. Four tables were arranged in the drawing-room, which looked cosy with a log fire, and tall vases of .autumn-tinted chrysanthemums and foliage. Mr. Wilfred Kohn. who was the week-end guest of Mr. Wright, delighted everyone with several musical numbers, adding greatly to the enjoyment of the evening. Amongst those present were Mr. and Mrs. P. 11. Bull (Gisborne); Mr. and Mrs. W. ('. Kohn (Gisborne); Mr. and Mrs. A. \V. Thomson; Mr. and Mrs. W. MYCaff'erv; Mrs. 11. C. Hoys; Miss J. M. Hoys; Messrs. G. S. Fridge, F. Ree, L. Khynd, and S. Thompson. Mr. P. Bee, headmaster of the Motuliora school, has received notice of his transfer to a school in Hawke's Hay, and will leave Motuliora on May V2.'

The Motu-Motuhora Dramatic Circle litis continued its rehearsals and intends to stage the three one-act plays, "Sanctuary"; "In Port," and "The Lamp Goes Out," followed by a dance next Saturday night. To dale there has been only one case of infantile paralysis in the hiutedland district, and no notifications have been received for the past three weeks, so members have decided to carry out the programme which was postponed three weeks ago.
