Prince Constantin Cantacuzene, aged 27, of Rumania, flying a Caudron Renault plane with a top speed of 237 miles an hour, and a radius of 3700 miles, departed from Hatfield aerodrome in ,an attempt to lower the England-Johannesburg and the Eng-land-Capo records. He plans to make only two stops, the first in the south Sahara and the next in central Africa, lie will sleep in brief snatches. He is using an automatic pilot.

Prince Cantacuzene made a forced landing in Algiers owing to mechanical trouble, but he later continued the flight.
