DEMAND FOR POWER
ARAPUNI STATION
PULL CAPACITY TAXED
(Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day
The Arapuni hydro-electric power station is now working to full capacity to meet trre heavily-increased load occasioned by the augmented winter demand for power and lighting. This "demand is at least 10,000 kilowats greater than the maximum consumption of • last winter, and although extensions are now being made to the plant there is. a possibility that it may be necessary to brjng the Auckland steam generating plant into operation for a short period as an auxiliary until the new plant is ready.
