Mr, Justice Ostler, who will preside at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court in Gisborne next week, is expected to arrive here this evening. Miss Christina Mac Kay, daughter of Mrs. Norman Mac Kay, Hastings, and late of Maraekakaho, who recently passed the State maternity examination, is joining the staff of the Cook Hospital, Gisborne.

Mr. A. Mortleman, an old settler of the Mutairni district, suffered a severe attack of heart trouble yesterday and his condition caused anxiety among his many friends. He improved later, however, and was conveyed to a private hospital in Gisborne for treatment.— Special. Mrs. H. J. Garden,' Chrislchurch, mother of Mr. Oscar Garden, the wellknown New Zealand aviator, is paying a holiday visit to her daughter, Mrs. Clark, and her son-in-law, Mr. A. E. Clark, engineer at the Tikiwhata rail way camp. Mrs, Garden intends to return to ("iiistchurch snortly, calling on some of her follow Manxmen in Wnirna and Napier. Professor and Mrs. J. McLuckio, of Sydney University, who attended tho recent Science Conference in Auckland, are visiting the Hermitage, Mount Cook. Professor McLuekie, who is. making an extensive tour of New Zealand, marvels nt the scenery and tho flora of New Zealand, and is most interested in Raoulia R.vimia (vegetable sheep), which grows in the Mount Cook region. He says that beautiful specimens are seen nit Mount Wakefield and Mount Sobastnpo|.
