TRIBUTES TO WARSHIP
DUNEDIN GOING HOME A UCKLAND CE REMONY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND., this day. Auckland to-day tendered a civic farewell to H.M.S. Dunedin, formerly the flijgsbip of the Now Zealand Division ol (lie Royal Navy, which sails for England on Monday. Citizens assembled in the Town Hall in force to join in paying a tribute to-the ship which, in the words of the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, "lias almost become an institution in the community life of Auckland." With that tribute the Government joined, personal messages being sent by the Prime Minister, the Rfc. Hon. M. .1. Savage, the Minister of Defence, the, Hon. F. Jones, and the Minister ot Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, A message of good wishes was also received from Dunedin.
Tiie Mayor paid that the gathering was unique in the history of the Dominion in that it was a civic farewell to a ship.
