INTOXICATION CHARGE

For the first time in New Zealand a motorist charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor car was recently taken to the Auckland Hospital, where a sample of his blood was taken for the purpose of ascertaining the contents of alcohol, thus proving whether he Was sober or in a state of intoxication,
This fact was disclosed in the Police Court this morning when William l'Yrdon East, molor mechanic, pleaded not
guilty to a charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of ;i motor car on January 22.
