SMASH ON CROSSING
LORRY STRIKES EXPRESS
DRIVER HURT SERIOUSLY

A half-ton truck driven by Willinm Heather, a married man. of Otaika road, Whangarei, struck the north express at the Kensington level crossing this morning.
The truck was completely wrecked, its body being hurled more than a chain.
Mr. Heather was admitted to the Whangarei Hospital in a serious condition, sneering from a fracture of the base of the skull and severe facial injuries. He was profoundly unconscious on his admission, and his condition is considered grave.
