TROUT POACHING
BAY OF PLENTY WORRY On several occasions this season, many trout 51b in weight and over have hem picked up dead on the river edge at Waimana settlement and they have shown every indication of having been killed with "explosives, states the Bay of Plenty Press. Anglers who sometimes go up into the Urewera bush reserve say that they hive seen ample signs of wire-netting having been used in the river for landing trout. As there is .seen evidence of spent torches lying about, the poaching appears to be clone at night. Ten years ago this river was so well stocked with trout that an angler could depend on securing a good bag almost any time of the day. To-day scarcely any of the residents take out a license' or go near the river, and-have transferred their sporting grounds to the various beaches along the Bay.
