EXCHANGE DEALINGS
ITALLAN CURRENCY SHARE MARKETS QUIET (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. RUGBY, Oct, 6. A feature of the foreign exchange market to-day was the resumption of dealings in the Italian lira, the rate being quoted at 92-94 to the pound sterling. When the lira was first dealt in on September 25, the closing, rate was 64-1. The stock markets are, quieter, but the tone is confident, the currency devaluations on the Continent having cleared the air. British Government stocks were quieter following the announcement that the underwriting is about to take place for a Manchester Corporation 5 per cent loan of £5,000,000, repayable in 1958-63.
