PAGEANT OF DEFENCE
PLANS IN LONDON LORD MAYOR'S SHOW GUARDIANS OF THE REALM (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9.30 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 6. The central feature of the Lord Mayor's Show on November 9 will be a pageant entitled, "The City of Loudon and the defence of the realm." The historical association .with the city of famous regiments will be recalled. The earliest detachment of city troops to be represented will be gunners, archers, pikemen and billmen in the white uniforms of 1593. Members of the Honourable Artillery Company will appear as trained bands and auxiliaries of 1643 and men of the Grenadier Guards will appear in the uniforms of the 1664 foot guards. The defence forces of later periods of history will be represented by other regiments closely associated with London, and finally tiie tableaux will show London troops as in the trench warfare on the Western Front and on Gallipoli during the Great War.
