MUDGWAY—PLUTO NEXT WEEK'S MATCH AMATEURS NOMINAT ED The New Zealand boxer selected to meet Bill Pluto in the first of the hitter's engagements under the Qisborne Boxing Association is Neville Mudgway, ol Auckland, who has fought with great success in the amateur and professional divisions, and, lost to Cyril Pluto, the brother of the Sydney man he is to light at Gisborne on'Wednesday next, by so narrow a margin in Auckland that many spectators considered he was entitled to a draw. As an amateur. Mudgway came to the front in 1932, when ho took the Auckland provincial championship in his class, and in the following year he was runnerup to Billy Purdie in the New Zealand amateur championship. He fights at 10.3, and has never been knocked out, either as an amateur or as a professional. His record since turning over from the amateur ranks is as under : Beat Clarrie MeKnight on points; beat Johnny McKay. (Ctisbornc) on points ; beat Don Stirling on points in a championship match; beat Ted Oxley on points; beat Don Stirling again, in a championship match;-lost, to Cyril Pluto twice on points, one decision proving unpopular;, beat Bobby Delaney, Australia) on a technical knock-out; beat Jack McMahon in eight rounds by a knock-out; drew with Watty Bobertson. Jack McMahon, whom .Mudgway knocked out in eight rounds, was the only New Zealander to get a decision over Cyril Pluto; while in the match which Mudgway drew with - Watty Robertson, Gisborne, Robertson had a good deal the better of the weights.

Brown (Arero), S. O'Connor. A. S. Church, S. Hamon (Waerenga-o-kuri). C. Doran (Te Karaka), W. MrAneney, B>. Gear, J. Thompson (Alanutuke),*D. .McMahon, 8. Hope, and B. Harrison. The Wairoa boxer, .1. Davis, who was to have met J. Jensen, Poverty Bay heavyweight champion, in a special bout is now unavailable, but this match will figure prominently on (In Show night bill, it is anticipated.
