BABY PIANOS
TO MATCH THE CURTAINS LONDON, Aug. £O. Tho problems of finding room for the piano and harmonising it with modern schemes of furnishing have been receiving expert consideration. How the matter is being solved will be demonstrated at the first Pinno Exhibition, to be held next, month at Dorland Hall. Regent, street, W. Mr. Jack Skinner (Messrs. W. H. Panics and Company, Limited), organising the exhibition, visualises a near future when the architect of a house will not only be required to design the building but also the furniture, the decorations, and, in particular, the size, shape, wood and colour of the piano.
He said yesterday : "Women" furnishing their new modern homes come to the piano dealer with a piece of the lounge curtain and say, 'Can we have a small piano that will match this?' "
He showed a piano for the exhibition. 4ft. 3in. long, 2ft. IOMn. high. HI. 4in. deep. I saw a piano with a keyboard that folded away out- of sight, a piano with green decorations and green keys to match: an artistically grained-front, jade-coloured piano; and another with tubular electric lights a fid artistic cigar■pile trays.
