The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, to-day expressed approval of the action of France, Switzerland and tlie Netherlands in devaluing their currencies and lowering import duties as “a move towards the rebuilding of international commerce. ’ ’ Mr. Hull said that it showed that Other countries recognised that tlie extreme restrictions imposed on the trade of the world, had created a common injury and were ready to move towards the rebuilding of international commerce.
Tho only. comment made by the Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Henry Morgenthau, regarding the stabilisation scheme was that everything seemed lo be going extremely well.
