TRUCK DRIVER FINED £SO
INTOXICATION DENIED SEQUEL TO CITY SMASH (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A fine of £SO and the cancellation of his driving license for two years was imposed by Mr. EL C. Levvey, S.M., to-day on Robert Alexander Johnston, a carrier, on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge, of a motor truck. Johnston pleaded not guilty. The evidence showed that Johnston s truck levelled a well-lit concrete safety zone and that he was under the influence of liquor when examined at the police station.. The defence was that Johnston was suffering from conCussibn due to the smash. Bad visibility was blamed lor tlie accident.
