Statements that militia recruits would bo obliged, if need arose, to take part in active service outside Australia, were denied to-day by the publicity officer of (he Commonwealth Militia recruiting campaign. Colonel F. R. Alderson.
“Our militia forces,” said Colonel Alderson, “are for home defence only.”
“Section 49 of the Defence Act states that members of the military forces shall not be required, unless they voluntarily agree to do so, to serve beyond the limits of the Commonwealth or those of any territory Under the authority of the Commonwealth.”
