MANY BATON CHARGES
CLASHES IN LONDON HOSTILITY TO FASCISTS LAV,OUR PARTY PROTEST (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 0, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. o. During the disturbances which occurred yesterday prior to the banning of the Fascist march through the East End of London, the police made many baton charges. The most serious clash occurred in Cable street, where a crowd, thinking the Fascists would pass that way, took a lorry from a builder’s yard and started building a barricade. The police here charged a dozen times and received a shower of bricks and stones. Twenty people received hospital treatment for bruises, including two girls, who were trodden down by two. Fascists. The Labour Party conference at Edinburgh to-day carried a resolution deploring yesterday’s events in the East End and condemning the Government for not' banning earlier the Fascist march, and demanding the prohibition of political uniforms and militarised politics.
