FALSE DECLARATIONS
SUSTENANCE OBTAINED WANGANUI MAN FT NED (Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. Leonard Isitt Whiteside, aged 60, in the Police Court to-day admitted making three false declarations of earnings for the purpose of obtaining sustenance. In one instance he earned £3 14s lid privately and received £1 12s sustenance. Air. J. E. Salmon, S.M., said that: it had been discovered that there was a good deal of abuse of sustenance, and he considered that the only proper way to deal with offenders was to make it unprofitable to make false declarations. On , each charge defendant was fined £2, with costs 10s.
