AIR TAXI BUSINESS REPAIRS OWN PLANE SYDNEY. Sept. 27. There is no work tlial men do Dial women cannot do as well, if not better, if they only apply themselves to it, according to Miss May Bradford,, who will commence an air-taxi service this week. She is tho orilv woman in Australia who is an aircraft engineer ns well as a pilot, and it lias been her ambition to operate her own air service since she first came to Mascot to do engineering work. “They make jokes about women drivers, but 1 have not- heard one vet about women pilots,” said Miss Bradford yesterday.. “For records show that- women in the air are very careful: possibly more careful than men.”

Woman-like, she spent a lot of time in choosing a colour scheme lor her new plane, a low-wing monoplane, which she will fly anywhere, any time, on her taxi service. She finally chose red, black, and gold, and, having had the machine painted with a new: enamel paint possessing an extra fine finish that- gives a. mirror-like surface, she is now satisfied that it is the smartest-looking plane at the Kingsford Smith aerodrome. The machine lias been called the Eagle, and on either side of the engine cowl has been painted a. golden eagle.
