The British United Press correspondent at Toledo says that both the northern and southern armies of the Spanish rebels are preparing for an immediate great push for Madrid. They are using live of the seven main roads to the capital. The President of Spain, Senor Azana. has issued a decree placing an embargo on. the export of gold and silver, and imposing Government control on all banks and also requiring citizens to surrender, within a week, all gold, and foreign bonds and currency in their possession. Griffiths, who was reported to have been wounded ill an aerial fight with Spanish rebel planes was that he had entered the British Army. .He had his twenty-first birthday in the Antarctic and his twenty-third in Spain. lie is a. son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Griffiths, of Eastbourne. The first intimation of their son's adventure came as a surprise. Mr. Griffiths was riding in an Eastbourne bus, and after reading, a newspaper account of the Spanish war, he passed the paper to a companion. "Is this your son who has been wounded in Spain?" the reader asked. "I don't think so," said Mr. Griffiths,' who had overlooked the cable concerning his son. Then he looked and found that it was. The latest report from Spain was that Mr. Griffiths was recovering in a Madrid hospital from wounds suffered in the encounter with rebel planes.
