WAITARA MAYOR DEAD
MR. JAMES HINE LONG PUBLIC SERVICE (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. The death of Mr. James Hine, the Mayor of Waitara and for 30 years a prominent figures in the administration of the dairy industry in North Taranaki occurred suddenly at Waitara last night. Born in Devonshire, Mr. Hine who was 69 years of age afc the time of his death, came to New Zealand with his parents in 1879. He took a keen interest in the establishment of the Tikorangi dairy factory, of which he was the secretary for 30 years.
Ten years ago he was elected as Mayor of Waitara and this office, with the chairmanship of the Waitara Harbour Board, he held until his death. The opinions, of Mr. Hine in dairy matters were highly regarded, for several years he represented the Taranaki ward on the Dairy Produce Board, lie also was a member of the Taranaki Mortgage Adjustment Commission which recently was dissolved. He leaves an adult family.
