PARACHUTIST CRASHES
HUGE CROWD SEE FATALITY I.OS ANGELES, Sept. 4. _ A parachute jumper plunged to his death, his body striking the ground and bouncing high in the air before a grandstand of 20,000 persons when ihe wind caught his "chute," as ihe national air races opened here today. The jumper, L. C. Falkner. of Dallas, Texas, leaped from an airplane 23000. over Municipal airport and aimed at a circle painted on the airport floor in an "accuracy dive." Fifty feel above ground a gust of wind whipped his parachute to one side, "spilling" the air out of it, and he plunged io earth. lie died a few minutes later in the airport emergency 'hospital.
