DRUNKEN MOTORIST
GAOL FOR A MONTH UNABLE TO PAY FINE (Per Press Association.) CARTER-TON, this day. Samuel Slurgess, aged 46 years, alias Walter John Best, a"chimney-sweep, of Master!on, was lined £2O in the Police Court this morning, and sentenced in default to gaol for a- month for being drunk while in charge of a motor car. His license was cancelled for two years, and he was placed under a prohibition order for 12 months. On a further charge of damaging a police cell and utensils, he was fined 17s. As ho was unable, to -pay the fines, lie is being sent to the Wellington gaol.
