Dunedin. —Oct. 3: Arrived, Breeze, (> a.m., from Wellington; Ilororata, 9.45 a. tit., from Lyttelton. A decision to abandon the annual ball in connection with the. A. and P. Show was recorded at to-day’s meeting of the general committee of the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association. It was revealed that the ladies’ committee which iormorly had been connoeUul with the ball was no longer enthusiastic about, the project, and members generally, with one exception, felt that the best thing lor the credit of the association was to drop tlm feature. Mr. R. W. Coop pointed out. that last year’s ball bad made a profit of £27. and tilt'd actually the profit did not represent tlm value of donations to the supper fund. He favoured a major social function, to be held during the winter. Air. It. C. Parker considered that the ball having been advertised, it should bo proceeded, with, but a vote being taken, he was found to constitute a minority of one. The president, Mr. J. G. Graham, remarked that the association should be careful not to identify itself with any function for which success could not bo confidently anticipated.
