MOTOR SPEEDS ABROAD
EXCUSE FOR FAST DRIVING “No decent motorist would think New Zealand roads are open for speeds up to 63 miles an hour.” said Mr. F. 11. Levien, S.M., in the Papaknra Magistrate’s Court, when it was mentioned that an excuse given by Roy McDonald, salesman, of Rernuera, for driving bis car on the Great- South road at over 60 miles an hour was that lie had only just returned from abroad, where he had become used to speeds that were higher apparently than those permitted in New Zealand. McDonald was lined £5 and costs, 10s, and his driving license was endorsed.
