WHISKY’S LONG VOYAGE
ACCELERATING MATURITY SHIPMENT AT AUCKLAND (Ter Tress Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A valuable consignment of whisky, which is being transported round the world to (accelerate maturity, will reach Auckland front Melbourne by the Tvairanga to-morrow. The whisky is contained in (51 butts arid 71 hogsheads and its value in England is £511,000. The liquid quantity is 10,7.12 gallons. The cargo was .carried from England to Melbourne via the Capo of flood Hope in the steamer Jloynl Star and, at. -Melbourne, it was transferred to ,thc Kniranga. ,At Auckland the whisky will be loaded on the Tamaran, which is to sail for London via Panama, next Friday. When tlie Tamaroa reaches London about November 11, the whisky will have travelled about. 20,000 miles front London.
It is lo be returned lo Glasgow, where it was made, and it will then be stored for a. further period, until it is fully matured and ready for consumption.
