CLUBS' PREPARATIONS TOJvOMARU BAY OPENING (Herald Correspondent.) With the closing of the football and golf season the summer sports enthusiasts in Tokomarn Bay arc looking forward to their summer pastimes. The Tokomarn Bay Cricket Club's members enjoyed a, practice at the nets yesterday "afternoon and a fair muster participated. Judging by the performances of some of the players it seems as if a reasonably strong eleven will take the field to represent the Bay this season. The club hopes to play its opening game during the week-end against a team from Pi.uatoria.

The week-end also will see the official opening of the Tokomarn Bay Bowling Club's [s~>(>-?>7 season and should the weather remain as it has been for the last three or four days tin excellent opening day is assured. The green is in very good order, and the surroundings, with I lie flowering shrubs, should add to the attraction ol the opening. If is expected that a number of visiting bowlers will be present. The Tennis Club is opening its courts in conjunction with (he bowls and here also a number of visitors are expected. MATAWAI TENNIS CLUB NOW FREE OF BEET (Herald Correspondent.), The annual meeting of the Matawai Tennis Club was held in the Matawai library on Monday evening. The balance sheet.' which was satisfactory, was adopted. The club is now free from debt. There was not a large attendance. The following otlicers were elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, Mr. C. W. Norte; secretary, Mr. R. Caulton : committee, Mrs." C. V. Smith. Misses M. Smith and J. Murray, and Messrs. 11. and A. Bulst, 'the subscriptions, if paid by December 1. remain the same as last year. It was arranged to have a working bee on Saturday and to ask members to set, aside October 17 lor the official opening. Several new members have intimated I heir intention of joining, and an interesting season's tenuis is anticipated. TOLAGA BAY TENNIS CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING (Herald Correspondent.) The tenth annual general meeting of >tho Tolaga Bay Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Reynolds Hall, Tolaga Bay, on Wednesday night, being well attended. The working profit for the season was £lO 4s lid, and the balance sheet showed a surplus of assets over liabilities of £164 8s lOd, the only liability being the bank overdraft. £l2 8s 2d. The club was in a strong financial position, it was slated, all members being financial. j A good number of new' members were, elected. Officers elected were: President, Mr. i A. A hearty vote ot thatiks was accorded the retiring secretary, Mr. K. Colson, after four years of office. "The committee," stated the president, "is to be congratulated on the. capable management of the club and its finances, which arc in a thoroughly satisfactory position. Membership shows a small decrease, hut it is hoped that. with improving conditions, this tendency will be reversed and that present members will continue to support the club. 1 desire to thank the committee for its efficient work during the past season."
