REPERTORY SOCIETY FIRST CONCERT (Herald Correspondent.) The Gaiety Theatre at Tokomaru Bay was filled to capacity on Wednesday evening when the repertory players produced '"their initial variety programme. This is the first attempt at forming a repertory society in Tokomaru Bay, and tho aini of this concert was chiefly to test the feelings of the public with aview to putting on a larger and brighter programme next season. At the rise of the curtain, the stage presented a. gay scene of ladies and gentlemen in evening dress, who sang a welcome to everyone in a chorus of catchy harmony. ' Mr. H. C. Bignell sang with great success '"Tramp, Tramp, Tramp," from "Naughty Marietta," Other performers were: .Miss Mary Onllaghan. song, "Vale"; Messrs. R. G. Sherwood-Hale and B. Morris, sketch, "The Missing 'Links" ; a quartet, Mrs. A. I-:. Nodwell. Mrs. Ray Oates', Miss N. Hill and Miss M. Cailaghan, "Venetian Boat Song": monologue, "The. Nanny Bell." Mr. A. K. Nodwell: humorous item, Messrs. R. (!. Sherwood-Hale and B. Morris, "Fatinia." the crystal-gazer; Mr. S. G. LyJe-Smyfhe, humorous monologue, "The" New "Lodger" : solo, -Mrs. Watson, Tolnga Bay, "Farewell to Summer." The first half of the programme was closed with a one-act farce, "The Dear Departed," by Stanley Houghton. This- was exceedingly well done and the characters were splendidly suited to their parts. The scene takes place in the parlour of a lower middleclass home, and the play revolves round the grandfather who was thought to be dead. Those who took the parts were Mrs. If. Beattio as Amelia Slater; Miss Wynne Gates, her daughter, as Victoria; Mr. S. G. Lvle-Stnvthe. her husband, as Henry; Mrs. Bay (lutes, her sister, as Elizabeth Jordan'; Mr. M. 0. Gray, Elizabeth's husband, as .Ben Jordan; Mr. F. Nathan, as grandfather, Abel Merry weal her.

A bright item opened the second half, this being "Musical Measles," a selection 1 of catchy 4-nnos, sung by the company. With Airs. Gates at Iho piano, Miss Callaghaui dressed in a black and gold military suit, sang the catchy 1 home.
