Lord Cowrie said that there was an idea among a certain section that returned soldiers wanted war. lho contrary was the ease. All who had experienced the horror of the Great War ami knew its uselessness realised what a fulure war would lie. In the next war I here would lie no spectators. Whether they wanted if or not, eveiyono would be embroiled in the run llici. The British imlion had done evervthiug possible to bring about an atmosphere of ponce and goodwill. Giving a lead in disarmament, the Empire reduced its defences below the margin of safety. Unfortunately, they were wrong, and they had no alternative but to re-arm to be as strong as possible for the defence 6f their homes and people.
