LONGER THAN EXPECTED
SESSION OF PARLIAMENT
OPINION OF MINISTERS
MUCH LEGISLATION YET
(Parliamentary ltoporter.) WELLINGTON, this day
Tlie Cabinet during the week-end has been carefully overhauling legislative proposals with the object of training a filial programme for this session. Hopes that Parliament could adjourn bv the first, week in October disappeared when the Ministers realised how much important legislation remained for consideration. The general view in Ministerial circles is that it would lie difficult(o complete the programme before the end of October, unless several measures which already have been announced are to be postponed until next year. Suggestions have been made that a short session about February would be needed prior to tlie Coronation, but tbo Prime Miniser, the Rt. Hon. M. J Savage, stated to-day that it seemed far preferable to stay a. week or two longer (his year and avoid a short session with a further interruption next year. Tin’s would enable the ordinary session to open about July of next year.
