After decidedly threatening conditions on (Saturday, no rain foil, except a. low light, showers :in the backbloeks. (f no rain falls by the end of the month, this September will be a record lor droughty conditions.
Mr. McLean, headmaster of the Wairoa District High School, retires on superannuation on October 18. -Mr. F. M. Woodhonse, Feilding, was a recent visitor to Wairoa. on bis way to Waikuremounaand Rotorua. —Mr. J. M. Osier, who lias been on a visit, to Scotland, is expected to reach New Zealand on Thursday.—Mr. N. Turnbull, who Jins been visiting Tuai and Morere, has returned lo Hawera, —Mr. W. Mclntosh, Otago Central, is on a. health visit to tho Morere hot springs,—Mr. P. M. Lane, Nelson, is visiting Wairoa, for a few weeks. — Miss E. M. Mediae is visiting Napier.
Mr. EL E. C. Boys. 8.A., who lias been headmaster of tins Waipukurau District High (School for the last two years, has been appointed to Wairoa and takes up iris duty at the beginning of next- year.
