LAUNCH DRIVEN ON ROCKS

THREE OCCUPANTS ESCAPE TRYING EXPERIENCE (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. The Aknroa launch' Wainui was driven on the rocks al Island Rav. a few miles outside Aknroa Hoads, on Thursday night, and was completely •wrecked. The three occupants, Douglas Pool, Pat McGuiio and .George Hillycr, escaped, but had a trying experience. There was a south-west gale blowing at the time. After the launch struck, McGuire and Hillyer walked over the range to Mai uni at daybreak and telephoned for a boat to go out and bring back Pool, who stayed behind to look after, the fishing tackle. Pool was out in the snow and rain until 11 o'clock next morning. The engine of the AVaimii was salvaged.
