“LIKE A HOP SNAKE”
LONDON, Aug. 8.
A mysterious creature, described ns being ‘Mike a hop snake,” has been seen in the sea off the Norfolk coast at Eecles. It is said to have moved through the water at an astonishing speed. Among' those who saw it were Mi. If. E. Witard, a former Lord Mayor ol: Norwich; Mr. Charles Ammon, former Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, and his wife and two daughters; and Mr. A. G. Gossling, formerly ALP. for the Yardley Division of Birmingham and now living at Eecles. “The creature looked like a huge snake,” said Air. Witard. "Its action in swimming was wormlike. It was at, least a mile out to sea and swimming parallel to the coast. s speed was terrific—oo to 100 miles an hour is not m> exaggerated estimate. Air. Ammon said, ”1 delinitelv saw (Something moving along at a g ,(f J pace about half a mile out, to sen. was moving with an undulating mo i and I could see humps and curves above the surface of the water. ‘‘Mr. Witard and Mr. Gossling saw it first and drew my attention to it.
