MEN'S REP. HOCKEY
POVERTY BAY DEFEATED A LAST-MINUTE GOAL (Special to tiio Herald.) HASTINGS, this day. Both the Poverty Bay senior and junior representative hockey teams suffered defeat here to-day by Hawke’s Bay, the score in the senior match being five-four and in Lite junior five-two. The senior game was decided by a lastminute goal. It was fast, and some good hockey was seen. Poverty Bay seemed to be affected by a long night’s travel, and the movements often lacked sting. The visiting players also were hampered by the bumpy ground. Play was even throughout, and the score of five-four represents fairly well the merits of tlio teams. Jones was the most prominent of the Poverty Bay forwards, and Douglas was the outstanding half. In the fallbacks, Stacey played well, and Le Bas, while sound, kept too far upficld. Chadwick saved well in goal. Playing for Hawke’s Bay was W. McKay, an ex-Poverty Pay representative of a few years ago. McKay showed speed as fast as evci\ and scored three of Hawke’s Bay’s goals.
