INTERMEDIATE -SCHOOL HASTINGS PROPOSAL "We have received authoritative advice that there is no reason why the establishment, of an intermediate school at Hastings should not be proceeded with at an early date," said Mr. G. A. Maddison, chairman of the Hawkc's Bay Education Board, at yesterday's meeting of the board in Napier. . A request was received by the board from the Department of Education fon a- plan showing the proposed school, together with an estimate, of the cost-, in order to enable the matter of the establishment of an intermediate school at Hastings to receive further consideration. It was stated that the department would also he glad to have the. board's proposals regarding the present Hastings Central School and site. Mr. Maddison said that plans, for the intermediate school were being prepared. Mr. Lassen and the chairman had arranged to see that, there was still unanimity among the school committees, and they" would"also report on the question of the Central School site.
