SHIP ARRESTED
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES
SYDNEY, Sept, 9
The Japanese freighter KyoUkoh Mni'U was arrested bv order of the Marshal in Admiralty yesterday, on the eve of her departure for Melbourne. An order forbidding the departure of the vessel until released by the Court was nailed to the mast, as is usual in such cases. The arrest, of the ship followed a claim made on behalf of Dr. C. Shand, owner of the launch Groper, for damage and costs in respect of the launch, which was allegedly bumped by the freighter as she entered the harbour last week-end.
The Groper was lying at anchor near the Heads, while her three occupants were fishing, when the alleged bumping occurred.
A claim for £125, covering damage to the launch and costs, was lodged against the ship. Last evening the amount claimed was paid into court on behalf of the ship, without an admission of liability, and the Kyokkoh Maru was permitted to continue her voyage to Melbourne.
